Pet Insurance

There are several companies that offer pet insurance and we can help you find one that best suits your needs and your pet.

What does pet insurance cover?

Not all insurances are the same.  Central Vets & Pets recommends that you check each policy carefully prior to signing up as there are large differences between the insurance providers.

Be aware of the small print - a cliché but true!

Individual packages vary in the type of treatment covered. However, they usually include most accidents and unexpected illnesses.

You need to consider the differences between policies, in particular the claim excess amount, proportion of treatment costs covered, annual claim limit, age restrictions, pre-existing illness exclusions and policy costs.

You should be specific about the questions you may like to ask the insurer prior to signing up, to ensure you are getting what you think you are paying for.  For example you should be specific about what is included in orthopaedic surgery and pay special attention to what is covered regarding knee surgery.

You also need to understand the difference being the different policies and what they get you.  For example; accidental cover and say full cover.  A severely infected ear canal that may cost several hundred dollors to fix will not be covered under accidental cover as it is not an accident but is a disease.
